Diabetes Prevention & Management

One in 11 Americans have diabetes — that’s more than 29 million people. And another 86 million adults in the United States are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In an effort to help you manage both the daily and long-term challenges of diabetes we are proud to offer the following:

Diabetes Prevention Program

If you have pre-diabetes or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes, it is time to take charge of your health. Springfield Pharmacy’s prevention program can help you make lasting changes to prevent Type 2 Diabetes.  It includes CDC-backed curriculum with lessons to help you make healthy changes and a lifestyle coach to offer ongoing support.

Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME)

The first step in self-managing your diabetes is to learn as much as you can about properly taking care of yourself.  This involves understanding how different parts of your body can be affected by diabetes if your sugar is not in target range.  Our Diabetes Education Program discusses the principals of meal planning, exercise, medications and how best to self-manage your blood sugar to target levels.

Weight Loss/Nutrition

According to the American Diabetes Association, the combination of high blood pressure & type 2 diabetes is particularly lethal & can significantly raise your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Having type 2 diabetes & high blood pressure also increases your chances of developing other diabetes-related diseases, such as kidney disease & retinopathy. At Springfield Pharmacy, we have partnered with Ideal Protein to be an authorized weight loss clinic. We are passionate about helping men & women who struggle with Diabetes or High Blood Pressure reduce their medications.

Micronutrient Testing

Have you noticed that certain foods affect you more than others? At Springfield Pharmacy we offer at-home food sensitivity testing kits, made to help you identify where you may have nutritional deficiencies or an excess of nutrients to help reduce the risk of complications tied to diabetes. Talk with our team today to see if this test is right for you.
